We trust in God's love
Calvary is a community of regular people from all walks of life, courageously trusting Jesus to do something extraordinary in their lives and world.

A church for the North Shore
At Calvary, there is a place for everyone of all ages and backgrounds. From classes to support groups, ministries, services, and prayer meetings, our heart is to help people take their next step with Jesus.
Calvary Christian Church is part of a fellowship known as the Assemblies of God, with campuses serving Lynnfield, Salem, and Spanish communities.
Calvary Christian Church started in 1947 with a small group of Canadian immigrants meeting in a rented hall in Malden, Massachusetts. It wasn't fast or easy, and the congregation once shrank to just seven people. But it kept going.
In 1958, that small group purchased land in Lynnfield and began meeting in tents. By 2001, Calvary had grown enough to plant its first daughter church, sending a team out to launch a new congregation and reach a different community. A major building project in 2004 then gave the church its current home in Lynnfield.
Growth accelerated from there. Calvary continued planting daughter churches and launching campuses across the North Shore — in Lynn, Beverly, Peabody, Danvers, and Salem. In 2017, a Spanish-speaking congregation merged with Calvary, adding a vibrant Hispanic Campus to the family.
A major renovation completed in 2024 expanded space for kids, students, guests, and community life. And in 2025, Calvary launched a new campus in Salem, extending its reach even further into the communities it has served for decades.
Today, Calvary is a multi-campus, multi-ethnic, intergenerational church family with campuses in Lynnfield, Salem, and a dedicated Hispanic Campus, still growing after nearly 80 years. From seven people in a rented hall to thousands across multiple communities, one thing hasn't changed: Calvary exists to help people know Jesus and grow together in faith.
Rooted in the gospel
Our convictions are historic, simple, and centered on Jesus. Here's the heart of what we hold to.
The Scriptures Inspired
The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons.
Salvation
Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
A gift empowering believers for life and witness.
Divine Healing
Healing is provided for in the atonement and available to believers today.
The Second Coming
The blessed hope of the Church is the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Calvary's four-fold mission
Recognize our awesome God through praise and worship
More than practicing religion, God wants a real relationship with us. Whether you're new to faith, have questions, or have been Christian for a long time, our weekend services are a welcoming place to learn more about what it means to know God and grow closer to Him through worship.
Reach the lost through missions and evangelism
Our faith isn't meant to be kept to ourselves. God has called us all to go in our community and all the world to tell others about Him. We are passionate about equipping believers to share their faith — and equally passionate about sending and supporting missionaries in every corner of the globe.
Raise up leaders and ministers of the gospel
God's ultimate plan for us is to make a difference in the lives of others. The Bible tells us that when we do, we'll experience true joy. Through our volunteer teams, we hope to connect every person to an opportunity to grow in their purpose — take your first step by attending Starting Point.
Release the church to enlarge the Kingdom of God
We have a passion for the entire North Shore of Boston. Our prayer and dream is to continue expanding by planting churches and starting campuses throughout our entire region!

Pastor Jamie Booth
Jamie's story with Calvary started in 2004, when he signed on as a part-time custodian. In addition to his practical ministry training, Jamie holds a Doctorate of Ministry (D.Min) from Talbot School of Theology. When he's not at the church, you'll likely find him out hiking a trail, golfing, or sitting with a book and a cup of coffee.
